A lovely shot, up close, with this gorgeous flower.

Floral Gorgeousness

29 May

So, finally a day with little to no breeze. Besides the impossibility of macro in the wind, it is too cold.

Clarity I seek, Clarity I attained

And we have a winner. Passionfruit flower. I love the colours, the structure and the tendrils.

Please, enjoy the depth and clarity. Download it, zoom in and just be at peace with the world.

Day 2 – I am mastering this lens . . .

27 May

WOW! So, after some excellent, friendly help from Ken Rockwell @ kenrockwell.com

Turns out it is from the late 80’s early 90’s. so, one would rightly expect a full frame 35mm?

Initially there was some thoughts it was a current lens, but it being FX and not having a “D”, it was identified.

Tendrils Reaching

This is a phenomenal lens to play with. the depth of field using the zoom is fun to play with, but the results from a macro, handheld! I am gob-smacked. granted a Nikon D610 witht he right settings helps, sure, but the optics of this lens.

Clarity is what I seek.

I can see I will have a lot of work for this lens. I love shooting flowers and macro, so this is ideal. As a AU$110 lens from Ebay, ex Japan, I can definitely not complain.

Again thanks to Ken @ kenrockwell.com for the help identifying the lens.

Love the new lens

The macro abilities are, as I said, very good.

Colour control can be so nice.

Nikon Nikon 35-105mm f 3.5-4.5

24 May

This is my newest lens. As the description says, it is 35-105mm, with a 3.5-4.5 f/stop.

My mystery lens/

so, as you can see it isn’t the “D” version, as then it would be DX format, which I do not want on the Nikon D610.

I bought it through EBay, it was listed as follows:

[Mint] Nikon AF Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 FX Zoom Lens by DHL from Japan

it is definitely capable, and I mean very capable, at macro, and takes a nice landscape, with focus locking.

Can you identify it? This is specifically for Ken Rockwell @ kenrockwell.com

I took this image at the end of my street. A little work and POP!

Amazingly, this was ALL done on my new mobile phone.

Enjoy!

A new lens . . .

14 Nov

Well, the excitement builds, I bought myself a new lens.

Nikon AF 35-105mm f 3.5-4.5, so portrait shots and landscapes will be a new treat. Oh, it also does one of my favorites, Macro. And with the brilliant f-stop range, I get brilliant Bokeh.

The Bokeh is brilliant.
The ever best doggo ever – Bear Dog.

So, as you can see, the possibilities are getting closer to endless.

My next lens, which will be very expensive, is a Nikon AF 14-24mm lens. Will cost me ~$2000, so some saving will be needed. one day.
